Bernardo Hernández, Marketing Director of GOOGLE, will be a professor of Strategic Design Labs

Bernardo is currently the Marketing Director of Google and a member of the “Board of Directors” of FUNDESO, a non-governmental organization that manages more than 40 million Euros on projects in developing countries.

He is also the co-founder of the following internet companies: idealista.com, floresfrescas.com, 11870.com, and tuenti.com. Along with the students of Strategic Design Labs, Bernardo will analyze contemporary challenges from a strategic perspective, always within the framework of technology: new media, the future of companies and the essence of enterprising, among other subjects.

After being named the new worldwide Director of Product Marketing at Google, he has become the highest rank in charge of this activity for all the company’s consumption products: the search engine, Android, Chrome and the tool bar.

Bernardo Hernández will introduce 9 fundamental points of his work philosophy developed at Google and also in his personal projects:
1.    Innovation, not perfection. It’s better to launch a product as soon as possible with minimum functionality rather than waiting until it’s perfect. The market will not only tell you if it’s a good idea or not, but will also help to perfect it.
2.    Share everything you can. Sharing reduces risk and maximizes talent. The more transparent and agile the financial markets are in transmitting information, the more efficient they are. This efficiency can be applied in almost all sectors that strive for optimization in the use of information.
3.    Chase talent. It’s only possible to do extraordinary things with extraordinary people.
4.    Dreaming is good and fighting to achieve your dreams is good. Do not accept limitations. Be on the edge of the impossible.
5.    Ideas can come from anywhere. The newest employee, the most junior, may have the most brilliant idea. A conversation with a partner or a client. Forget hierarchies in the generation of ideas.
6.    Let the numbers do the talking and not the hierarchy of control. One of the greatest advantages that the digital world has is that you can measure almost anything. Build good control structures from the beginning, letting them be those who bear the weight of decisions, but not individuals’ subjective opinions.
7.    Creativity moves well in moderation, avoid wasting it.
8.    Do not think about money first. Create value for users. Money will come in one way or another when there is value created for users.
9.    Do not give up on a project just because it doesn’t work right away. It’s possible to significantly improve a product with minor changes.
